Frequently asked questions

Short answers about what ClassicalConnect does, who it is for and what it costs. Step-by-step instructions are in the user guide.

About ClassicalConnect

What is ClassicalConnect?

ClassicalConnect is a directory of professional classical musicians, ensembles, organisations and venues. Organisers use it to find the right musicians and send them a request for a concert, recording, event or lesson. Musicians use it to be found and to receive those requests by e-mail.

Who is ClassicalConnect for?

For professional classical musicians (instrumentalists, singers, conductors, composers and other roles), for ensembles such as string quartets, choirs and orchestras, and for organisations that book them: concert organisers, festivals, venues, agencies, event companies, schools and churches. We start in Belgium and the Netherlands, and profiles from the rest of Europe and the UK are welcome.

What can I do on ClassicalConnect?
  • Search musicians, ensembles, organisations and venues, and filter by instrument, voice type, role, country, experience and more.
  • Create your own profile with photo, bio, recordings, repertoire and availability.
  • Save profiles to a shortlist and send one request to up to 20 of them at once.
  • Receive requests by e-mail and reply directly to the sender.
  • Follow international competitions for classical musicians.
Is ClassicalConnect an agency?

No. We only forward requests. We do not negotiate, we are not a party to your agreement and we do not handle fees for concerts or other work. Fees, contracts and practical arrangements are between you and the other party.

Who runs ClassicalConnect?

ClassicalConnect is an initiative of Kyzoe (Oostende, Belgium), in collaboration with Klassiek Centraal, the platform for classical music in Flanders. You can reach us at contact@classicalconnect.eu.

In which language is the site?

The site is in English, so organisers and musicians from different countries can use it together. You can write your profile and your requests in any language you like.

For musicians and ensembles

Does a profile cost anything?

No. A Basic profile is free, for as long as you like. It includes a photo, a short bio, two video or audio links, and requests from verified organisations. Premium (€59 per year excl. VAT) adds a long bio, a photo gallery, a CV, unlimited links, a repertoire list, a Premium badge and a higher place in search results.

Who can create a musician or ensemble profile?

Professional classical musicians aged 18 or older, and people who may act on behalf of an ensemble. We review every new profile by hand. Profiles must describe real, professional activity in classical music.

How long does it take before my profile is visible?

First you confirm your e-mail address with the link we send you. Then our team reviews your profile, usually within 2 working days. You get an e-mail as soon as it is approved and visible.

There is already a profile about me marked "Not claimed yet". What is that?

Some profiles were prepared from information that is already public on Klassiek Centraal. They cannot receive requests until the owner claims them. Open the profile and request a claim link, or use the link in our invitation e-mail. The link is valid for 60 days. If you do not want the profile, reply to the invitation or e-mail us and we remove it.

Which recordings can I add?

Links to YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify and SoundCloud play right on your profile. Other links (your website, a press page) are shown as normal links. To protect visitors' privacy, players only load when someone clicks them.

Can I show when I am available?

Yes. Under Account › Availability you add the periods when you are busy and a short note. If you switch it on, your profile shows a calendar of the next 6 months.

Can I see who looks at my profile?

You see numbers, not names: how often your profile was viewed, where visitors came from, how many requests you received and how many people saved you to their shortlist. You find this on the Overview tab of your account.

For organisations

What does ClassicalConnect cost for organisations?

Non-profit and aid organisations use ClassicalConnect for free after verification. Companies, commercial organisers and event agencies choose a yearly plan: Business (€490 per year excl. VAT) or Business Pro (€990 per year excl. VAT, for agencies and larger organisers). See the pricing page for what each plan includes.

Can I search without an account?

Yes, everyone can browse and filter the public profiles. To save profiles to a shortlist or send a request, you need an approved account.

How do you verify organisations?

You confirm your e-mail address and our team reviews your profile by hand. If you enter a VAT number, we check it automatically in the European Commission's VIES system. At approval we also determine whether your organisation is non-profit or commercial.

How do I find the right musician?

Go to Musicians or Ensembles and combine filters: instrument, voice type or role, country, city, experience, specialisation and language. Choosing two filters narrows the results to profiles that match both. Open a profile to listen to recordings, read the repertoire and check availability.

What are the venue profiles for?

Venue profiles show concert halls, churches and other places where classical music is performed, with their location. Use them to find a place for your concert.

Requests

How does a request work?

You fill in one form: the type of assignment, the date, location, line-up, an indicative budget, the repertoire and your message. We e-mail it to the musicians or ensembles you chose, with your profile name and e-mail address. They reply to you directly by e-mail. You get a confirmation, and both sides find the request under Account › Requests.

Who can send requests, and to whom?

Every approved account can send requests to verified musicians and ensembles. Musicians, ensembles and non-profit organisations send for free. Commercial organisations need an active Business or Business Pro plan. Profiles marked "Not claimed yet" cannot receive requests.

Is there a limit on requests?

One request can go to at most 20 profiles, and each account can send up to 20 requests per day. These limits keep requests personal and stop spam.

What kinds of assignments can I ask for?

Concerts, private events and weddings, corporate events, recordings, teaching and masterclasses, substitutes, and anything else that is real professional work. Requests may not be used for advertising or mass mailings.

What if a musician does not reply?

Musicians decide for themselves whether they reply, and we cannot guarantee an answer. Tip: send the same request to a few musicians from your shortlist at once, and give a date and an indicative budget, so they can answer quickly.

Plans and payment

How do I pay for a plan?

You choose a plan under Account › Plan and pay the first year online through Mollie (Bancontact, iDEAL, card or bank transfer). Your plan starts as soon as the payment is confirmed. The official invoice follows afterwards, through the Peppol network or by e-mail.

Are prices including VAT?

Prices are shown excluding VAT. Musicians and ensembles pay Belgian VAT (21%). Organisations in another EU country with a valid VAT number pay no Belgian VAT (reverse charge). Organisations outside the EU pay no VAT.

Does my plan renew automatically?

No. About 30 days before your plan ends, we e-mail you a proforma invoice with a payment link, and a reminder two weeks later. If you do not pay, your plan ends on its end date and your account returns to the free version. Your profile stays online.

Can I get my money back?

Paid fees are not refunded, unless the law requires it or we end your plan without fault on your side. The details are in our terms of use.

Account and privacy

Is my e-mail address shown on my profile?

No. Visitors contact you through a request. Only when you receive a request does the sender's e-mail address reach you, and you decide whether to reply.

I forgot my password. What now?

Click "Forgot your password?" on the login page. We e-mail you a link to choose a new one.

Can I download or delete my data?

Yes. Under Account › Privacy you download all your data as a file, or delete your account. Deleting removes your profile and the files you uploaded straight away. We only keep invoices and payment records for as long as the law requires. More in our privacy policy.

Will you send me e-mails?

We send e-mails about your account, your requests and your plan. The newsletter is optional: you choose it when you join and can switch it off any time under Account › Privacy.

How do I report a profile or message?

E-mail contact@classicalconnect.eu with the link and a short explanation. We review every report and let you know what we decided.
